G's has the full support of the farm community and its 60 registered farms of the National Association of Farmers Sierra Leone (NAFSL). The membership includes 6,163 males and 6,201 females (12, 304 members).

The 60 selected Farm of the NAFSL will become partners in the USA International Farm initiative pilot program. The USA/SL Master Farmer Leaders will:

  • Provide directions in improving the farming land
  • Increase rice yield to expand crop production (rice, maize, potato)
  • Provide seed to increase crop variety and improve nutrient content (better seeds - better output)
  • Expand the fishery
  • Promote farming as a business and develop add on products
  • Organize skill base training for the orphans, teach them to feed themselves
  • Recruit and train the community in Agriculture/Business

In addition the USA/SL Master Leaders will:

  • Provide directions in rebuilding the infrastructure at Lungi
  • Establish and identify with the community
  • Assist with the developing, designing, drafting and directing the activities for the International Village at Lungi.
  • The International Village at Lungi will include G's & Kamlock Headquarters, Community Center, Childrens Centre, Health and Nutrition Station, Seed Bank facility and more.
  • This program is to be duplicated in other communities

The Lungi project in three years time will allow 60 Farms and a total of more than 12,000 individuals to realize food security. At the end of three years more than 6000 acres will have lush, healthy crops in their soll and seed for planting the next season crops will be in the storing/drying facilty waiting for distribution. Three water wells will be added to ensure enough water for healthy crops. Children that were without a home will call the Childrens Centre home and go to school with 100 of the local children on their campus. If they feel ill they will be able to visit the Health and Nutrition Center that will serve the community. The Community Center will have seen the USA Farmers instruct more than 300 classes in farming as a business, seed saving, crop rotation, marketing, canning and more. The people of Lungi will have their bodies nourished and their minds fed. Possiblities are endless when a person is empowered!

SEED Distribution Program Details

G's has identified 60 Farms that will be responsible for planting, harvesting and saving seeds from the LSAdderson, Inc, donation of Organic Vegetable and Herb Seeds. The first year will create the Community Seed Bank for family and community use. Second year increase production by 20% and place 10% of the seeds in the Community Seed Bank. By using premium donated seed the risk of crop failure is decreased with better inputs. Farmers will be trained on crop rotation and diversification to take advantage of specific seasons and weather patterns (keep the land and food cycle active). The USA Farmers will create a market place that will provide the Farmers with a reliable steady market for their produce, thereby increasing their economic well being.

The first group of farmers will be responsible for planting, harvesting and saving seeds from the LSAdderson, Inc donation of Organic Vegetable and Herb Seeds. This group will use only Organic or untreated seeds in all new production. Organic Seeds must be kept separate from non organic seeds. Seed bins will be clearly marked.

First year seeds will be use to build seed bank and for family/community use. Second year increase production by 20% and place 10% of seeds in Community Seed Bank.

The second group of farmers will be responsible for planting, harvesting and saving seeds from the first 1-30 items of assorted seeds from Johnny's Select Seeds .

First year seeds will go in to seed bank and for family/community use. Second year increase production by 20% and place 10% of seeds in Community Seed Bank.

The third group of farmers will be responsible for planting, harvesting and saving seeds from the LSAdderson, Inc donation of treated seeds. These seeds must be transitioned into Organic Production over 3 years. The treated seeds must be restricted to the assigned farms and should not be put into Organic Seed Bins.

First year planting will go in to seed bank and family/community use. Second year increase production by 20% and place 10% of seeds in Community Seed Bank.

The fourth group of farmers will be responsible for planting, harvesting and saving seeds from the Johnny's Select Seeds items 31 - 56 Vegetable Seeds, these are Organic and untreated seeds.
